Privacy Policy

ChatShield is built on a single principle: the content you paste never
leaves your device. This policy explains exactly what the extension
does and does not do.
The short version
- ChatShield reads the text of a paste only to scan it locally for secrets (API keys, tokens, passwords, private keys).
- That scan runs entirely inside your browser. Your clipboard contents, the text you paste, and the pages you visit are never sent to us or anyone else.
- We have no servers, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising.
What ChatShield stores

We never receive a copy of any of this. It lives in your browser.
What ChatShield does NOT do
- It does not transmit, log, or store the text you paste.
- It does not track your browsing history.
- It does not use analytics, telemetry, cookies, or fingerprinting.
- It does not sell or share any data, because it never collects any.
Permissions, explained
- storage saves your settings and the Pro flag described above.
- scripting and the optional access to "all websites" are used only if you are a Pro user and you explicitly turn on "Protect on every website." That toggle asks for your permission at the moment you flip it, and it simply lets the same local paste-scanning run on sites beyond ChatGPT and Claude. You can revoke it any time from your browser's extensions page.
Payments (Pro)
ChatShield Pro is sold through ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com), which processes payments via Stripe. When you purchase Pro:
- ExtensionPay and Stripe handle your payment details and email address under their privacy policies. ChatShield never sees your card information.
- The only thing ChatShield learns is a yes/no "has this user paid?" answer, used to unlock Pro features.
If you have not purchased Pro, ChatShield makes no network requests at all.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the "Last updated" date above will change and the new version will be posted at this URL.
